I have helped patients manage physical symptoms of anxiety through acupuncture and herbal medicine. These symptoms can include:
- Dizziness
- Palpitations
- Numbness, pain, and burning throughout the body
- Fatigue and weakness
- Insomnia
- Cold or heat aversion
- Headaches or migraines
How we view anxiety symptoms
From the Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, we categorize the above symptoms into two problem categories – pathogenic heat and yin deficiency.
- Pathogenic heat often travels upwards in the body, and can manifest as dizziness, palpitations, neck and facial numbness or pain, burning in the scalp, and insomnia.
- Deficiency can manifest as fatigue and weakness, cold or heat aversion, or pain throughout the body.
Treatment overview of anxiety symptoms
My treatment plan for anxiety symptoms consists of two-parts: acupuncture to relieve the pathogenic upper body heat symptoms, while taking herbs to resolve deficiency. The two factors need to be treated side-by-side in order get more permanent results, otherwise they tend to feed into each other and prolong the healing process. I aim to have patients feeling much more normal within 3-4 weeks, though relief should occur starting from your very first treatment.
